11//21/10

Heeeeeey!

Its Sunday and Rach and I are watching season one of True Blood. I am getting her hooked on it for sure! Muahahahah. We are sitting on the couch eating snacks and all snuggled up because it has been pretty chilly lately, it is perfect movie watching and hot coco weather.

Our game this weekend was at home and we won in three! It was a really fun match to play and we played waaaaay better than last weekend.  Maybe it is the home court advantage? Either way it was fun. My shoulder felt pretty good during it. I did not swing in practice for about 3 days this week because I have tendentious in my shoulder that's not getting better. I felt better in the match but was pretty sore today after the pain meds wore off.  I am working on strengthening the muscles in my arm and rehabbing it so I wont have this problem all season.

Harry Potter 7 came out this week and Rach and I are extremely bummed we have not been able to see it yet. We tried to find a theater that had it in English but had no luck :(  Might just have to wait until I get home and drag Nate to go see it with me! ;) Okok I'm not that mean but I know my mom will be excited to see it with me.  haha

We are excited for Thanksgiving! It wont be like being at home with the family but we are going to try and make it as American as possible. Each of us is going to make a dish from home...speaking of that what should I try and make? My dads baked beans are soooooo good and I love the mashed potatoes and biscuits I get when I go to Utah and visit for holidays. It is always questionable what we can make here because you never know what the market is going to have. I miss the little things like salad dressing (they don't have ranch dressing here! I mean WTF. I need it for my french fries!) and peanut butter.   Also our kitchen has about 2 feet of real counter space....Not exactly ideal for a feast of magnificent proportion!

Our game this weekend is away which makes the weekend go by faster and then Rachael's 22nd bday is on Sunday!!! We are going to celebrate of course. :) I have to get her a present still....hmm. We finally are getting a few more fans at our games. Whenever we go out and they ask why we are here and people find out that we are volleyball players, we always tell them to come watch our home matches and last night 4 people showed up and cheered for us and after took a picture with us. It was fun to see a familiar face. They said next time they were going to get more fans. Yay!

Anyway I cant think of much else to babble about.....I will let you know how the Thanksgiving meal goes! Enjoy the holiday everyone!

11/17/10

Hey!

It has been a while since I have given you guys an update so I thought I would.  We are in between practices and I just finished watching the newest episode of Glee on sidereel (it is a LIFESAVER) and have nothing to do until the next practice at 5.  Rachael finally caught the bug that has been going around and has been sick the last few days. As bad as we both felt/feel when we were sick, I think that the few days off from practice really helped my body recover. Double days all week long get tiring.

We are currently 3-3 in season.  The teams we have played have been good but in this last match everyone did not play their best. We could have done a lot better and hopefully we will learn from that match and gear up for this weekend at home.

This last weekend also was the yearly Benidorm Fiesta (each city has their own).  I have no clue what they are celebrating all I know is that they give little kids WAY to many firecrackers and they have music and dancing and noise all night long. And it's not just a weekend thing, it was like last Thursday until today! I am all for a good party but come on....the Market has been closed for 5 days and I am outta food!  Okay I am done ranting, just had to put it all out there. I guess there is another fiesta type of thing in February that people dress up for and stuff, which will be fun. I swear these people have more holidays than any other country.

It is now 32 days until I come home. Suuuper excited. I got my flights taken care of and also Nate's (thanks dad!!),who is coming to visit for a few days in AZ before he goes back to Healdsburg to celebrate Christmas with his family.

It is getting colder here but I really don't mind it,  regardless of me being used to Puerto Rican, Arizona, and SLO weather.  It is nice to bundle up and watch movies at night with Rach.  We have nothing really planned for Thanksgiving yet but we are going to cook food and hang out just us 4 Americans and focus on winning out our matches before our mini vaca.

Hope everyone has an amazing Thanksgiving with their families and don't forget how very fortunate you are to be around them. :)

11/6/10

Hey Guys!

Its Sunday afternoon and the weather is gorgeous out. Sunday is our day to be completely lazy, sleep in, drink coffee (with a hint of Bailey's), watch movies and eat whatever we want. Rach is doing some work on her law school apps so I thought it would be a perfect time to sit down and write.

We played last night and lost in 4. They team we played was ranked 2nd in the league. They were good but I think we could have beat them.  Erica (whose knee was hurt) just got back onto the court and practicing on Wednesday and is still in constant pain. They found out she has a torn meniscus and a sack of  fluid behind her knee cap. Both are inoperable so she is going to play through the pain. I do not envy her. Anyways, we had some moments where our passing broke down and the other team played crazy good defense. I still think we could have won.

It is 6 weeks (42 days to be exact)to the day that I will be on my way home for Christmas. SOOOO excited. Rach and I are going to make a paper chain and see it get smaller and smaller until we get to leave. Also she told me that we are going to be decorating in Christmas decor and I quote "Kylie, it is going to look like Santa Clause threw up all over our house".......it's the little things in life my friends. Maybe we will send out a "Christmas blog" instead of a Christmas letter like most families do. We are going to get right on that in fact. Be looking for in the next few weeks to come.

I am going to be in AZ for Christmas because we only get about 5-6 days to be home and It just wouldn't be worth getting on more flights and having to travel to all the places I WISH I could visit. When I get home from Spain though I will be making the rounds to be sure. I have graduations to go too, best friends and family to see, and places to visit.  Hope you all have as good of a Sunday as I am about to have!

11/3/10 (LOVED BEING ABLE TO WRITE AN 11!)

Yay for November! It is gorgeoussss here in Spain right now. The weather is still pretty much perfect. I could get away with wearing pants or shorts (I would be in shorts mostly of course) during the day and the nights cool off so we can leave our windows open and get nice and chilly before we snuggle into bed.

Whenever we have away games we usually get Mondays off to recover. I really like this because it makes the week go by so much fast. Its already Wednesday! I am not sure who we play this weekend but I think it is a university team from somewhere kind of close.  I have started to play both positions (OPP/OH) because we do not know how the line up is going to go for this weekend. I may be playing OH if Erica's knee is still hurting. I dont really mind playing either position. I just wanna kick some booty!

We are 3-1 in season currently.  Not too shabby but always room for improvement. It is also nice to know we have not lost to a team that we should have beat. We could have beat Tenerife I believe, but having to switch the line up in the middle of the game caused some confusion on the court given the fact that I have not played OH in year (high school) and the girl who came in to play OPP had never played that and I was trying to help her when she doesn't speak a lick of English. Stressful to say the least.  We will get them next time :)

Wednesday is usually the night we go out to have a little fun at the Irish Pub we have found.  Also we have Thursday mornings off usually so it works out nicely but we will see how that goes. We have been such home-bodies lately and have been renting some movies from Itunes.  We cook dinner, drink a little wine and pass out.

OH! How could I forget? We FINALLY got internet in the house and we both can use it at the same time. It was probably the most exciting thing that has happened to us so far. We are much happier because we can skype whenever we want and have contact with the world. Rach and I are constantly having things we need to google so it is much more convenient with internet on the computer instead of my phone.

Anywaaaaays I am blabbing now. Ill keep you posted if anything interesting happens until the game or I get bored enough to make up stuff to write. Adios!
